*Photo from Vegas Hockey Now*     A champion is going to Canada. A player, not a team. The Winnipeg Jets and G Laurent Brossoit have agreed to a one year, $1.75 million contract, according to TSN's Chris Johnston. The deal has been confirmed by the team.    After spending two seasons with the Vegas Golden Knights, Brossoit is back with the Jets after previously spending 3 years in Winnipeg. Canucks bring in center depth with Blueger signing

*Photo from The Athletic*     When in doubt, bring in a champion. C/LW Teddy Blueger and the Vancouver Canucks have agreed to a one year, $1.9 million contract, according to Frank Seravalli of the Daily Faceoff. The deal has been confirmed by the Canucks.    Blueger is coming off a Stanley Cup championship with the Vegas Golden Knights, and now joins a Pacific Division rival in free agency. He had previously spent his entire NHL career with the Pittsburgh Penguins prior to being dealt to Vegas.    In his contract, Blueger gets a $1.9 million cap hit and AAV. His base salary is $1.65 million for the 2023-2024 season, but the cap hit goes up to $1.9 million thanks to a $250,000 signing bonus included. He will once again be a UFA at the end of next season.    Vancouver GM Patrick Allvin said of adding Blueger that "Teddy is someone we are familiar with and will fit in nicely with our club. We needed some veteran experience down the middle to hel...

Penguins agree to multi year deal with dynamic defenseman Graves

*Photo from The Hockey Writers*     The Steel City is shoring up the back end with a splash. Defenseman Ryan Graves and the Pittsburgh Penguins have agreed to a 6 year, $27 million contract, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. The Penguins have confirmed the move.    Graves brings a mobile, puck moving defenseman profile to the Penguins alongside Kris Letang in the wake of Brian Dumoulin's departure. He has strong offensive metrics and can produce points, with a single season high of 28.    The contract for Graves is of the longer term variety. The left shot defenseman has a $4.5 million AAV, but $2 million of that in every season is a signing bonus, which lowers the base salary but keeps the cap hit the same. He has a modified no trade clause in all 6 seasons of the deal. The first 3 seasons are a 12 team no trade list and the last 3 seasons are a 8 team no trade list.    Last season was Graves' second with the New Jersey Devils aft...

But looking forward, I'm so excited to be with Anaheim. It seems like what they have coming up the pipeline, it's going to be a real exciting team to watch the next couple of years. Looking forward, I'm super excited for the future."    Last season, Killorn played all ...

The Panthers have confirmed the signing.    After previously signing 4 straight one year contracts, Rodrigues now gets a multi year agreement from the Panthers in free agency. All four lines compete and work hard and I think that's why they're successful. They wear teams down...

Avalanche sign forward Wood to long term contract

*Photo from Boston Hockey Now*     Mile High is gaining some middle six forward depth. LW Miles Wood and the Colorado Avalanche have agreed to a 6 year, $15 million contract, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. The Avalanche have confirmed the addition.    Originally a 4th round draft pick out of Boston College, Wood has surpassed the 15 goal mark twice in his NHL career, with a single season high of 19 goals in 2017-2018. He will likely help the Avalanche compensate for the long term injury to Gabriel Landeskog.    Wood said of the length of his contract that "This free agency, a lot of one-and two-year deals were handed out. So I feel very fortunate in the sense that I got a six-year deal, and from the start, Colorado was always a team that I would love to play for. I love the mountains. I'm an outdoor guy, and whenever the Devils would go out and play them, it's just such a great spot. And I have some friends that live out there as well, so...
