Showtime's still in the motor city. RW Patrick Kane and the Detroit Red Wings have agreed to a one year, $6.5 million contract extension, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. Detroit has confirmed the deal.

The deal pays Kane $4 million in salary and contains $2.5 million in performance bonuses that can max the deal at $6.5 million. Kane signed with Detroit after the season started last year after fully recovering from surgery, and now gets another go around with the Red Wings. He also gets a full no trade clause.

Kane still had a productive season with the Red Wings despite not playing until December. He potted 20 goals and added 27 assists for 47 points, averaging 18:23 of ice time per game while recording a -5 rating in 50 games for the Red Wings, who fell short of the playoffs.

Most of Kane's career was spent with the Chicago Blackhawks, chosen with the first overall pick of the 2007 draft by the team. He ended his Blackhawks career ranking 3rd in team history in goals with 446, games played with 1,161, and second in both assists with 779 and points with 1,225. Kane also has the second most points among US born NHL players with 1,284, trailing only Mike Modano.

Over the span of his career, Kane has picked up some impressive hardware. He took home the Hart Trophy for league MVP of the 2015-2016 season, the Art Ross trophy for leading scorer the same year, as well as the Ted Lindsay trophy, also in 2015-2016. He won the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year in 2007-2008 and the Conn Smythe trophy for playoff MVP in 2013.

Kane has suited up for the Blackhawks, Red Wings, and New York Rangers in his 17 seasons in the league. He has accumulated 471 goals and 813 assists for 1,284 points, posting a +16 rating while averaging 20:11 of ice time per game in 1,230 games.

The success doesn't stop in the regular season for Kane, who is a 3 time Stanley Cup champion. He has 53 goals and 85 assists for 138 points in the playoffs, averaging 20:21 of ice time per game with a +4 rating in 143 playoff games.

With Kane back in the fold, the Red Wings can focus on re-signing two of their best players and current RFA's Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond, both in need of new contracts. Joe Veleno and Jonatan Berggren are Detroit's two other RFA's this offseason.
