The talent throughout this lineup is evident. Dmitry Orlov had two goals and two assists, Sebastian Aho had 3 assists, and the Carolina Hurricanes rolled over the Ottawa Senators with a 7-2 victory on Sunday in Ottawa.

New acquisitions Jake Guentzel and Evgeny Kuznetsov each had a goal and an assist as the Hurricanes won their 3rd straight game and their 8th of 10. Brendan Lemieux also had a goal and an assist while Aho and Orlov each had big games as well.

Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour said of Orlov's play that "He's been playing really well. He’s got a pretty heavy shot, and tonight we were able to see that. He’s been coming along. He hasn’t really gotten any breaks, right? Like, he’s had a lot of good opportunities and I think, maybe, hopefully, this kind of springboards him because he has been playing really well."

Orlov started the scoring for the Hurricanes, giving them a 1-0 lead 7:19 into the game with Lemieux and Martin Necas assisting. At the 13:50 mark of the first, Thomas Chabot scored for the Senators to tie the game 1-1. On the power play 2:03 into the second period, Kuznetsov scored to make it 2-1 Hurricanes.

Tim Stutzle found the back of the net for the Senators 4:51 into the second, tying the game 2-2. Seth Jarvis made it 3-2 Hurricanes when he scored with 22 seconds left in the period. Jalen Chatfield scored to open the 3rd period, extending the Hurricanes lead to 4-2.

At the 7:14 mark of the 3rd, Orlov scored his second goal of the game to push the Hurricanes lead to 5-2. Chatfield and Aho picked up assists on Guentzel's 23rd goal of the season later in the period to make it a 6-2 game. Lemieux made it a 7-2 margin when he scored his 3rd goal of the season with Brent Burns and Jaccob Slavin assisting.

Orlov said after the game that "Today, you could see in the locker room everybody was tired, but we had to come up and play strong and leave everything out there. And I think we did. Good penalty kills today, Freddie made some good saves, and I think we had good possession, good offensive zone time. We created a lot of chances, and obviously we scored a lot of goals."

It was Frederik Andersen starting in goal for the Hurricanes, picking up the win to improve his record to 8-1-0 in 10 starts. Andersen stopped 30 of the 32 shots the Senators sent his way, good for a solid .938 save percentage.

Getting the start opposite Andersen for the Senators was Anton Forsberg, who saw his record drop to 12-11-0 in 23 starts with the loss. Forsberg made 31 saves on the 38 shots he saw from the Hurricanes, recording a .816 save percentage.

Senators interim head coach Jacques Martin said of the loss that "The first two periods, actually, we had a couple more chances than they did. I thought we played really well. We competed hard. I thought we did a really good job, and they're one of the better teams in the League. I think we self-destructed. Can't feel sorry for ourselves. We’ve just got to pick ourselves up."

Both teams get back in action on Tuesday night. Andersen is expected to start for the Hurricanes as they face the New York Islanders while Joonas Korpisalo is the projected starter for Ottawa as they travel to take on the Boston Bruins.
