Things are clicking in Texas. Tyler Seguin scored, Jason Robertson had a goal and an assist, and the Dallas Stars defeated the Arizona Coyotes with a 5-2 victory on Wednesday night in Dallas.

The Stars won their second straight game and have wins in 7 of their last 9, sitting in 3rd place in the Central Division. Seguin returned after an 11 game injury absence while Nils Lundkvist had two assists to join Robertson as the team's multi point contributors.

Seguin said of making his return "Great to be back. Had a smile all day, couldn’t nap, it was just a lot of fun. It felt good. Personally, there’s a little rust in certain areas. I think I lost my first three draws, things like that. Definitely a game to build on."

Clayton Keller scored the only goal of the first period with 15 seconds left to make it1-0 Coyotes. Logan Stankoven scored 7:45 into the second for the Stars to tie the game 1-1. Jamie Benn chipped in his 13th goal of the season with assists from Lundkvist and Ryan Suter to make it 2-1. Seguin scored 29 seconds later to make it a 3-1 Stars game.

Robertson scored 4:12 into the 3rd period to give the Stars a 4-1 lead on his 24th goal of the season, assisted by Thomas Harley and Roope Hintz. Craig Smith scored 1:13 after Robertson to make it 5-1 on his 10th goal of the season. John Leonard scored his first goal of the season for the Coyotes later in the period to make it a 5-2 final.

Stars head coach Pete Deboer said after the game that "I thought all our defense did a good job, and Nils was part of that. They did a good job of getting the puck to the net. That’s something this year that we’ve tried to preach, is not to complicate the game back there. Just get the puck to the net and get some action around the net. I think probably three of the goals were scored off defensemen getting pucks to the net, and he had two of them."

Getting the start in goal for the Stars was Jake Oettinger, who picked up the win in goal to improve his record to 26-13-4 in 43 starts. Oettinger stopped 23 of the 25 shots he was tested with by the Coyotes, good for a .920 save percentage.

It was Connor Ingram who started opposite Oettinger for the Coyotes, taking the loss to drop to 19-18-3 in 41 starts. Ingram turned aside 28 out of the 33 shots on goal that the Stars had, recording a .848 save percentage.

Coyotes head coach Andre Tourigny said of the loss that "We had a good start. In the second, they had a push and we turned the puck over too much. They’re good around the net, and there’s a reason why they’re a Stanley Cup contender."

Both teams get back in action at home on Friday. Oettinger is expected to start for the Stars as they host the Pittsburgh Penguins, while Ingram is the Coyotes projected starter against the Seattle Kraken.
