There's that outdoor game magic again. Vincent Trocheck had two goals and an assist, Artemi Panarin scored the winner, and the New York Rangers defeated the New York Islanders 6-5 in overtime on Sunday in East Rutherford.

In the second game of the NHL's stadium series at MetLife stadium, the Rangers scored 3 unanswered goals to take down the rival Islanders and win their 7th straight game, now 8-1-1 in their last 10. Alexis Lafreniere and Adam Fox each had two assists while Panarin had a goal and two assists.

Rangers captain Jacob Trouba said of the outdoor win that "We got really good players, and a really good power play. We were just as excited as everyone else in the place. As a team, that is a really fun game to play. I think you have so many memories as a kid playing outside. That's such a dream. We're all little kids at heart."

Erik Gustafsson gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead when he scored his 5th goal of the season 1:28 into the game. Brock Nelson tied the game 4:20 in for the Islanders. Bo Horvat scored at the 7:18 mark of the period to make it 2-1 Islanders before Mathew Barzal scored on the power play 16 seconds later, making it a 3-1 game.

Anders Lee added another Islanders power play goal 1:03 into the second period, assisted by Mike Reilly and Pierre Engvall. Trocheck answered back for the Rangers with a power play goal to cut the deficit to 4-2. He scored his second goal of the game with 1:36 left in the period to make it 4-3, assisted by Lafreniere and Ryan Lindgren.

Just 1:53 into the 3rd period, Alexander Romanov scored for the Islanders to make it a 5-3 game. At the 15:52 mark of the 3rd, Chris Kreider scored on the power play with assists from Trocheck and Panarin to make it 5-4. Mika Zibanejad tied the game 5-5 in the final two minutes with another power play goal. Panarin sealed the comeback win just 10 seconds into overtime.

Trocheck said of the win that "The first period, I thought we came in, we were a little sluggish and down on ourselves for the way we played. And then at 4-1 in that second period, I thought we were playing well. So, I don't think anybody had any ill feeling toward just the way that we're playing, and it was just a matter of us sticking with it. Showing some urgency and I think we did that."

In net for the Rangers in the outdoor duel was Igor Shesterkin, who was able to pick up a win to improve to 22-12-1 in 35 starts. Shesterkin made 36 saves on the 41 shots the Islanders had, good for a .878 save percentage.

Getting the start for the Islanders on the other end of the ice was Ilya Sorokin, who couldn't get the win and now has a 16-12-11 record in 38 starts. Sorokin stopped 32 of the 38 shots the Rangers tested him with, recording a .842 save percentage in the OT loss.

Lee, the Islanders captain, said of losing the game late that "We found ourselves in the box, weren't able to get the kills tonight against a really good power play. Minus the way that game ended, it was a pretty great experience. Both sets of fans were great, the building was great, saw a great hockey game, but that's a sour ending for us."

Both teams get back in action on Tuesday night. Jonathan Quick is expected to start for the Rangers as they play host to the Dallas Stars, while Sorokin is the likely starter for the Islanders as they travel for a matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
