Another domino drops in the Arizona roster puzzle. The Arizona Coyotes and C/LW Jack McBain have agreed to a two year, $3,199,998 million contract, according to an announcement by the team on Sunday.

McBain, an RFA after the expiration of his entry level contract, is now in the fold for two more years in Arizona at just under $1.6 million annually. He and the Coyotes had an arbitration hearing scheduled, but that is also now avoided. He will remain a restricted free agent with arbitration rights at the expiration of his new deal.

Playing in his first full NHL season in 2022-2023, McBain had a solid season for the Coyotes. He scored 12 goals and added 14 assists, averaging 13:59 of ice time with a -8 rating and two game winning goals in 82 games for the Coyotes.

Arizona GM Bill Armstrong said in a statement that "We are very pleased to sign Jack to a new contract. He is a big, strong, physical center who led our team in hits last season and contributed offensively. We look forward to having him back on our roster this season."

McBain signed an entry level contract following the conclusion of his senior season at Boston College, near the end of the 2021-2022 NHL season. McBain has 14 goals and 15 assists to his name, posting a -14 rating while averaging 14:00 of ice time with two game winning goals in 92 games, all in the regular season.

Prior to signing with the Coyotes, the Minnesota Wild traded McBain's rights to the Coyotes in exchange for a second round draft pick. McBain represented Team Canada internationally at the Beijing Olympics, amassing one goal and one assist in 5 games.

Before the signing of McBain, the Coyotes had approximately $8.7 million in cap space available. They'll free up more before opening night when they can place the contracts of Shea Weber, Bryan Little, and Jakub Voracek on LTIR.
