Talk about a nice reward for a good season. The Seattle Kraken and D Vince Dunn have agreed to a 4 year, $29.4 million contract, according to an announcement by the team on Friday.

With Dunn set for an arbitration hearing, both sides came to an agreement on a new contract to avoid arbitration. He set career highs in goals, assists, points, power play points, and plus/minus while playing in all but one regular season game. He eclipsed his previous career high in points by 29 and had a plus/minus turnaround of 49 from 2021-2022 to last season.

The new contract for Dunn has a $7.35 million AAV over all 4 years. He has a full no trade clause for the second year of the contract, followed by a modified no trade clause for the final two years in the form of a 16 team no trade list.

Last season marked Dunn's second year with the Kraken after being chosen in the expansion draft. He finished the regular season with 14 goals and 50 assists for 64 points, averaging 23:40 of ice time in 81 games. Dunn added one goal and 6 assists in 14 playoff games.

Dunn has played 6 years in the NHL, split between the Kraken and St. Louis Blues. Since his debut in 2017-2018, he has racked up 53 goals and 148 assists for 201 points, posting a +29 rating while averaging 19:10 of ice time over 421 games. Dunn has an additional 3 goals and 15 assists in 43 playoff games.

A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Dunn led all Kraken skaters in plus/minus, average ice time, and assists. He was second in overall ice time, trailing only defenseman Adam Larsson. Dunn was chosen in the expansion draft by the Kraken after he was left exposed by the Blues.

The Kraken are coming off their second season in the NHL, where they knocked off the defending champion Colorado Avalanche in the first round of the playoffs before losing in the second round to the Dallas Stars.
