More turnover is happening in the music city. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports that the Nashville Predators and LW/RW Gustav Nyquist have agreed to a two year, $6.37 million contract. The Predators have confirmed the news.

The Predators will be the 5th NHL team and 3rd western conference team Nyquist will play for in his career. The contract does not include any incentives or trade protections and has a $3.185 million AAV for both years, running through the end of the 2024-2025 season.

Nyquist has played for the Detroit Red Wings, Columbus Blue Jackets, San Jose Sharks, and Minnesota Wild in his career. He has 175 goals and 253 assists to his name, posting a -13 rating while averaging 16:54 of ice time in 703 regular season games. Nyquist also has 5 goals and 21 assists to go with a +8 rating in 71 playoff games.

Last season, Nyquist played for both the Blue Jackets and Wild following a trade deadline trade. He ended the regular season with 11 goals and 16 assists, averaging 17:37 of ice time with a -9 rating in 51 games, 48 of which came with Columbus. He had no goals and 5 assists in 6 playoff games.

The Predators have made Nyquist another notable offseason move as they overhaul their roster. Center Ryan Johansen was traded to the Colorado Avalanche while Matt Duchene was bought out of his contract. Ryan O'Reilly was signed along with defenseman Luke Schenn, with Nyquist now joining them as headline additions.

The overhaul by the Predators comes on the heels of a season where they missed the playoffs with a 42-32-8 record. They also fired head coach John Hynes, replacing him with Andrew Brunette.
