New Jersey keeps on adding pieces. C/LW Tomas Nosek and the New Jersey Devils have agreed to a one year, $1 million contract, according to an announcement by the team on Wednesday.

Nosek hit free agency after the expiration of a two year, $3.5 million contract with the Boston Bruins. Now, he's off to the Devils on a short term contract in hopes of continuing his chase for a Stanley Cup championship.

Over his career, Nosek has played for the Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, and Vegas Golden Knights. In that time, he has accumulated 42 goals and 59 assists for 101 points, averaging 12:13 of ice time while posting a -2 rating in 398 regular season games. Nosek has an additional 6 goals and 8 assists for 14 points in 52 playoff games.

Asked about signing with the Devils, Nosek said "At my age when you get older you think all about winning so I want to do is win and that's why I'm here. I'm excited for the opportunity to join a great team, a great group, and help the team win the Cup."

Nosek played his second year for the Bruins and 8th in the league last season. He ended the season with 7 goals and 11 assists, one goal away from tying a single season best. He averaged 12:33 of ice time in 66 regular season games. He added two assists in 7 playoff games.

Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Red Wings, Nosek played parts of two seasons in Detroit before being selected by the Golden Knights in their expansion draft prior to the 2017-2018 season. Nosek has been on a playoff team for the past 6 seasons, including a trip to the Stanley Cup Final with the Golden Knights in their inaugural season.

This offseason, the Devils have added Nosek to a group of additions that includes Tyler Toffoli and Colin Miller. They've also re-signed Timo Meier, Nathan Bastian, Erik Haula, and Jesper Bratt.
