An emerging goalie is coming back for a few years. The Arizona Coyotes and G Connor Ingram have agreed to a 3 year, $5.85 million contract extension, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. The Coyotes have officially confirmed the deal.
Come July 1, Ingram was a pending RFA. Now, on the heels of his first full NHL season, he's got a new multi year contract. He has a $1.95 million AAV on his contract, which expires after the 2025-2026 season. He'll be a UFA when his contract expires.
Last season was Ingram's first full season in the NHL and with the Coyotes. He had a 6-13-8 record, posting a 3.37 GAA and .907 save percentage, recording one shutout and 15 quality starts in 26 starts and one additional appearance.
Coyotes GM Bill Armstrong said of the extension for Ingram that "We are very pleased to sign Connor to an extension. Connor is a good young goaltender who played well for us last season. He and Karel Vejmelka provided us with a strong goaltending tandem. We look forward to having him back between the pipes."
Ingram was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2016 NHL Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning. In 2019, he was dealt to the Nashville Predators for a 7th round draft pick in 2021. Prior to the start of last season, Ingram was placed on waivers by the Predators, where he was claimed by the Coyotes.
After playing in 3 games in 2021-2022 for the Predators in the regular season, Ingram became well known for what he did in the playoffs. Quickly inserted due to injury, Ingram did his best to keep the Predators alive, posting a 3.64 GAA and .913 save percentage despite the team being swept by the Colorado Avalanche. His first start of the playoffs was a 49 save effort despite the loss.
With Ingram and Karel Vejmelka between the pipes for the Coyotes, the team has Ivan Prosvetov waiting in the wings in the AHL.
