The Flames got back to stoking in short order. Elias Lindholm had a goal and an assist, Jakob Pelletier scored the game winner, and the Calgary Flames defeated the Arizona Coyotes with a 6-3 victory on Wednesday night in Tempe.

Finding themselves down 3-1 in the second period, the Flames rattled off 5 unanswered goals to win by 3 on the road, snapping the Coyotes 9 game point streak. Pelletier, Lindholm, Walker Duehr, and Tyler Toffoli had a goal and an assist, while Dillon Dube had a two assist game.

Calgary defenseman Chris Tanev said after the game that "Every game now is extremely important. Starting today against a team that is red hot. I think they have points in nine games in a row. They are a fast team, a skilled team and obviously they are playing extremely well here. We just worry about tonight and then move forward."

Milan Lucic had the only goal of the first period to make it 1-0 Flames. Nick Schmaltz scored a power play goal 1:11 into the second to tie the game. Clayton Keller gave the Coyotes a 2-1 lead before Matias Maccelli made it 3-1 on his 4th goal of the season. Lindholm then scored a power play goal to cut it to 3-2, leading to Toffoli's game tying goal, making it 3-3 after two periods.

On the power play 4:53 into the 3rd period, Pelletier gave the Flames a 4-3 lead on the eventual game winning goal. Duehr then scored 24 seconds later to pad the Flames lead, assisted by Tanev and MacKenzie Weegar. Mikael Backlund then scored on the power play, making it 6-3 Flames on his 13th goal of the season.

Pelletier said postgame that "We're just kind of trying to keep things simple and things are kind of working for us. If you want to win you have to score goals, right? For me as a newbie, I think our line, we've got to produce. I think now is the time to step up and score goals."

Starting in goal for the Flames was Dan Vladar, who didn't have to face many shots while picking up a win. Vladar stopped 11 of the 14 shots he saw from the Coyotes, which was good for a .786 save percentage. His record improves to 12-6-4 in 22 games.

Getting the start opposite Vladar was Arizona's Karel Vejmelka, who got a heavy shot workload as his record fell to 15-18-5 on the season. Vejmelka turned aside 45 out of the 51 shots the Flames got on goal, recording a .882 save percentage.

Arizona head coach Andre Tourigny said of the loss that "I know we're capable of being a tough team to play against, we're capable of playing good hockey every night. If everybody will play their A-game, we can beat anybody, but the truth is, a B-night is not good enough for us."

The Flames get back in action by finishing a back to back on Thursday night against the Vegas Golden Knights, with Jacob Markstrom getting the start. The Coyotes play host to the Nashville Predators on Sunday, with Connor Ingram the starter.
