It took a while, but Philly is finally on the board in overtime. Travis Konecny tied the game, Tony DeAngelo won the game, and the Philadelphia Flyers rallied to defeat the San Jose Sharks with a 4-3 victory in overtime on Thursday night in San Jose.

This was the 8th game of the season for the Flyers that has gone into either overtime or the shootout. winning for the first time past regulation. It's also just their 12th win of the season, now 12-17-7 and 7th place in the Metropolitan Division. DeAngelo had a goal and two assists, with Konecny scoring twice.

San Jose got on the board first, with Tomas Hertl finding the back of the net 9:38 into the game, assisted by Kevin Labanc and Erik Karlsson. DeAngelo then assisted on the first goal of the game from Konecny, tying the game 1-1. Hertl scored again in the second period for the Sharks, making it 2-1 on a power play goal, his second of the night.

Just 52 seconds into the 3rd period, Labanc scored for the Sharks, extending their lead to 3-1 with Hertl and Karlsson assisting. Owen Tippett scored 5:57 into the 3rd to start the Flyers comeback, making it 3-2. Konecny tied the game with 2:05 left to play. DeAngelo then scored 1:10 into overtime with Tippett and Provorov assisting to seal the win.

Flyers head coach John Tortorella said that "We've chased games all year long, but we continue to play. Down a goal early on, we're down two goals in the third period. Small little victories as far as our season has gone this year. That's one of them. We just keep on playing. We've done a lot of that, but just not getting things done. Tonight we got it done. I'm happy for them."

Getting the start in goal for the Flyers was Samuel Ersson, who made his second career NHL start. He picked up his first NHL win against the Sharks, stopping 25 of the 28 shots he faced for a .893 save percentage.

Kaapo Kahkonen started opposite Ersson for the Sharks, who got the loss. Kahkonen turned aside 22 out of the 26 shots on goal he saw from the Flyers, which was good for a .846 save percentage. His record now sits at 3-7-3 on the season.

After the game, Hertl said that "It felt nice being up 3-1, and we gave up the second goal and it was tough. It seems like we get a little scared and the last 10 minutes we always make a couple of mistakes."

Both teams resume play on Saturday, with each team hitting the road. Carter Hart is projected to start for the Flyers in an afternoon game against the Los Angeles Kings, while James Reimer is lined up to start as the Sharks take on the Dallas Stars.
