It's unfortunate that someone's season is over before it even began. Vegas Golden Knights C/RW Nolan Patrick will be out for the 2022-2023 season due to an upper body injury, according to an announcement by Vegas.

This season, Patrick is on the second year of a two year deal signed with the Golden Knights. He's on the hook for $1.2 million this season, and since he's out for the season, Vegas will surely put him on LTIR to save cap space, which they need every bit of. Patrick will be an RFA this offseason.

Last season in Vegas was his first, after being traded by the Philadelphia Flyers. Patrick ended the season with just two goals and 5 assists, posting a +1 plus/minus rating over an average 11:30 of ice time per game in just 25 regular season games.

Patrick will miss this season with the same upper body injury that limited him to just 25 games last season. Patrick, who is 24, has had his career defined by injury thus far. He missed all of the 2019-2020 season with a hereditary migraine disorder, which also had an effect on his play in the shortened 2021 season, although he did play all but 4 games that season.

So far in his career, Patrick has played parts of 4 NHL seasons, split between the Flyers and Golden Knights. Over that time, Patrick has 32 goals and 45 assists, recording a -36 plus/minus rating while averaging 13:49 of ice time in 222 career regular season games. Patrick has one goal and one assist in 6 career playoff games.

Last offseason, the former second overall pick in 2017 Patrick was acquired by Vegas in a 3 team trade that sent Ryan Ellis and Philippe Myers to the Flyers, and Cody Glass to the Predators. Patrick joins Shea Weber and Robin Lehner as Golden Knights who won't play this season due to injury.
