Needing more scoring depth and a veteran jolt, the New York Rangers went big. The Rangers and C Vincent Trocheck have agreed to a 7 year, $39.375 million deal, according to Arthur Staple of The Athletic. The Rangers have confirmed the deal.

Asked about signing in New York, Trocheck said that "This was one of just a few teams that we really looked at and thought it was a good fit. Coming in we knew that New York was probably our No. 1 choice, and when they came today it was an easy decision. Obviously, term and security is something everybody is looking for. To be able to get that was something that important to us and shows the confidence that they have in me."

Trocheck's contract is worth $5.625 million annually, and it expires following the 2028-2029 season. He will once again be a UFA when the contract expires. His deal has a full no movement clause for the first 3 seasons of the deal, and a modified no trade clause for the final 4 seasons, which has a 12 team, 10 team, and 6 team no trade list at separate points of the clause.

Last season, with the Carolina Hurricanes, Trocheck scored 21 goals and dished out 30 assists, with a +21 plus/minus rating while averaging 17:52 of ice time, playing in 81 games. Trocheck added 6 goals and 4 assists in 14 playoff games.

In his career, spanning 9 seasons split between the Hurricanes and Florida Panthers, Trocheck has 150 goals and 228 assists, averaging 18:35 of ice time per game while posting a -8 plus/minus rating. He has an extra 8 goals and 8 assists in 33 career playoff games.

Rangers GM Chris Drury spoke about signing Trocheck, saying that "We just looked at a lot of different players, a lot of different options. It's an important part of any hockey team and it's a hole we wanted to address. Just excited to have Vincent on board. He's a real good player, does a lot of different things. We're excited to have him."

The signing of Trocheck is the major move in what has been an otherwise quiet offseason for the Rangers, who traded Alexandar Georgiev and let Ryan Strome, Frank Vatrano, and Andrew Copp walk in free agency.
