On Tuesday night, in between games of the Stanley Cup Finals, the NHL awards took place in Tampa Bay, with a slew of awards being handed out to some of the games best players. If you happened to miss the ceremony on TV, here's a quick rundown of who took home the awards handed out.

Calder trophy: Moritz Seider, Detroit Red Wings
The only defenseman among the finalists, Seider takes home the Calder Trophy, which is basically the NHL's version of the rookie of the year award. Seider picked up 1,853 points, garnering 170 first place votes, beating out other finalists Trevor Zegras and Michael Bunting. Seider reached the 50 point mark, with 7 goals and 43 assists in his inaugural season. Zegras came in second place in voting, with Bunting in 3rd.

Ted Lindsay award: Auston Matthews, Toronto Maple Leafs
The Ted Lindsay award is given to the most outstanding player in the NHL, as voted by fellow NHLers, so it's a little different than the MVP. Matthews won it for very good reason, rattling off 60 goals and 46 assists in 73 total games for the Maple Leafs, with a +20 plus/minus rating in the regular season, not to mention 4 goals and 5 assists in 7 playoff games.

Vezina trophy: Igor Shesterkin, New York Rangers
The award given to the NHL's best goalie, Shesterkin takes home the award after backstopping the Rangers to the eastern conference finals. Shesterkin had 36 wins with a 2.07 GAA and .935 save percentage in the regular season, and a .929 save percentage in the playoffs. Shesterkin was also a finalist for the Hart Trophy. He picked up 29 first place votes to win in a landslide, with Jacob Markstrom coming in second in the voting, and Juuse Saros in 3rd.

Hart trophy: Auston Matthews, Toronto Maple Leafs
Taking home his second trophy, Matthews wins the NHL MVP in a bit of a landslide. For all the reasons I listed in the Ted Lindsay section, Matthews was deserving in every way. He picked up 119 first place votes and 1,650 points total. Matthews beat out second place finisher Connor McDavid, and Shesterkin, who came in 3rd.

Norris Trophy: Cale Makar, Colorado Avalanche
The trophy that is given to the league's best all around defenseman, Makar takes home the Norris after a career season. After being a runner up last year, Makar posted 28 goals and 58 assists and a +48 plus/minus rating in the regular season, and has 7 goals and 19 assists in the playoffs so far. His 22.7 goals above replacement led all NHL defenseman. Nashville defenseman Roman Josi came in second place, and Victor Hedman of the Lightning wound up in 3rd.
