The Holiday break has been extended another day in the NHL. The NHL and the NHLPA have agreed to postpone all 14 games originally scheduled for Monday, December 27, according to a press release from the NHL on Friday.
All 14 games scheduled for Monday, which included the first edition of the Edmonton Oilers-Calgary Flames battle of Alberta, will now be played at a later date. As of Saturday, the NHL is still planning to play the 4 games scheduled for Tuesday, December 28. There have now been 64 games postponed this season.
The NHL said in it's press release that "To allow the League an adequate opportunity to analyze League-wide testing results and to assess Clubs' readiness to play, the target date for resumption of game play will be pushed back an additional day."
Teams will return to their practice facilities on Sunday, and there will be another update on returning to play made by the NHL on Sunday night. Covid-19 protocols around the league were updated, making them stricter, and testing will take place daily once again.
