Paul Stastny is keeping his second stint in Winnipeg going for at least one more year. The Winnipeg Jets and Stastny have agreed on a one year, $3.75 million deal, according to the team. Stastny was a pending UFA, and would have hit free agency on Wednesday.

Last season in Winnipeg, Stastny put up 13 goals and 16 assists, with a -3 plus/minus in an ATOI of 17:25, playing in all 56 regular season games. Stastny also added one goal and one assist in 6 playoff games last season. In his 15 NHL seasons, Stastny has played 1,001 games, with 263 goals and 492 assists, with a career +36 plus/minus.

Giving his thoughts on returning to Winnipeg, Stastny said "I feel like at this time of my career, I've seen different places and played for different coaches, different organizations, and it was the best fit for me on the ice and off the ice for my family. We've always enjoyed our time there. I've spoken highly of Winnipeg and I would have never thought that four or five years ago, and that kind of speaks volumes for the organization and volumes from ownership to management to the coaching staff to the players that are there."

Stastny is a former second round pick of the Colorado Avalanche, chosen in the 2005 NHL Draft. He spent the first 8 years of his career in Colorado, before joining the St.Louis Blues prior to the 2014-2015 season. He has also suited up for the Vegas Golden Knights, spending the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons there, before joining Winnipeg.

With his return, Stastny keeps the strong center depth intact for the Jets. Mark Scheifele, Pierre-Luc Dubois, and Adam Lowry join Stastny as starting centers for Winnipeg next season. Stastny has also spent time on the wing when necessary.
