We have another trade involving the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers have acquired D Rasmus Ristolainen from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for D Robert Hagg, the 14th overall pick in this year's draft, and a second round pick in 2023, according to both teams.

Ristolainen has had a bit of a rocky career with the Sabres. He was selected with the 8th overall pick in the 2013 draft, and has 8 seasons in the NHL under his belt. He has done lots of point scoring damage on the power play, but his defensive numbers and underlying stats have left something to be desired, and had a career worst -41 plus/minus in 2018-2019.

Asked about heading to the Flyers, Ristolainen said "I'm really excited to go to Philadelphia. I'm going to do everything I can to help the team make the playoffs and make a run. I'm extremely happy it happened. I can't want to get to Philly and meet everyone."

Last season, Ristolainen recorded 4 goals and 14 assists for the Sabres, with an ATOI of 22:17 and a -18 plus/minus in 49 games played. In his 8 seasons, all with Buffalo, Ristolainen has 46 goals and 199 assists, with a plus/minus of -163 and an ATOI of 23:53. Ristolainen has never had a season with a positive plus/minus.

Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher said "We are extremely happy to add Rasmus to our blue line. He is a 26-year-old, right-shot defenseman who will immediately add grit to our team. His size, mobility and physicality will make him an important piece to our group going forward."

Selected in the second round in 2013, Hagg put up 2 goals and 3 assists last season, with a -3 plus/minus in an ATOI of 15:40 in 34 games for the Flyers. In his 5 seasons in the league, Hagg has 13 goals and 34 assists, with a plus/minus of +13 in an ATOI of 16:51 in 236 games played, including all 82 games in the 2018-2019 season.
