More and more moves by the Winnipeg Jets please. The Jets have acquired D Brenden Dillon from the Washington Capitals in exchange for a 2022 and 2023 second round draft pick, according to both teams.

Dillon said "The emotions are excitement. Going to a really good team, a team that's been really good for a number of years now. They've got a lot of good pieces in place up front, a Vezina-winning goalie, and a defense that I think is only going to get better."

Last season with Washington, Dillon scored two goals and 17 assists, with a plus/minus of +15 in an ATOI of 18:57, playing in all 56 regular season games, and all 5 playoff games for the Capitals, who were eliminated in the first round. In his career, Dillon has 24 goals and 109 assists, with a +28 plus/minus in 654 games, split between 3 teams.

In terms of salary, Dillon has 3 years left on a 4 year, $15.6 million deal, with a $3.9 million AAV, that he signed with the Capitals prior to last season. No salary is being retained, so Winnipeg will be responsible for all of his money. Dillon has suited up for the Dallas Stars and San Jose Sharks in his career, in addition to the Capitals.

Dillon said of Washington that "I know for Washington, they are a cap team, and it's trying to win the Stanley Cup every year. So with that comes decisions and this was obviously a route that they chose to go down. For me as a player, you kind of take that with a chip on your shoulder. You want to go to that new team and prove them right. I think that for Chevy bringing me in, I want to do everything I can to be the best Brenden Dillon and the best Winnipeg Jet I can."

Now that he is with the Jets, Dillon joins a Defense picture that currently features 5 left shot defensemen, including himself. Josh Morrissey, Logan Stanley Dylan Samberg, and Ville Heinola are all on the left side, with just Dylan DeMelo and Neal Pionk on the right.
