Boston leads series 1-0
When the Boston Bruins and New York Islanders opened the second round, it became the David Pastrnak  show. Pastrnak scored a hat trick, Charlie McAvoy scored, and the Bruins defeated the Islanders 5-2 on Saturday night. Taylor Hall also scored for Boston.

Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron said of Pastrnak that "It seems like he always rises to the occasion every time he’s asked to. I think he one of those guys who brings that energy, but he also loves to get the crowd going. It seems kind of fitting for him to have one of those nights with fans back in the building.”

Pastrnak scored near the end of the first period on the power play, tying the game at 1-1. In the second, he scored again to give Boston the 2-1 lead. With the game tied 2-2 entering the 3rd, Pastrnak scored, McAvoy scored, and Hall scored, making it a 5-2 win.

Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said of Pastrnak that “Obviously he’s feeling it. He broke through against Washington late, had plenty of opportunities, so that was good news. It was only a matter of time. That line’s really humming.”

Tuukka Rask got the win for the Bruins, saving 20 out of 22 shots throughout the night, winning his 5th straight game of the postseason after losing game one to Washington in the first round.

Anthony Beauvillier started the scoring in the first period, with his power play goal giving the Islanders a 1-0 lead. After Boston took a 2-1 lead, Adam Pelech scored to tie it at 2-2, before the Bruins scored 3 unanswered goals.

Islanders head coach Barry Trotz said "We’re going to need more from our lines. I really felt that I only had one line that was on top of their game. The other lines had spurts. Right through our whole lineup, we’re going to have to be much better.”

Game 2 is on Monday night, with Rask and Sorokin starting.
