Connor Hellebuyck keeps setting Winnipeg Jets records. He didn't set a record Saturday night, but he was still very good in net. Hellebuyck recorded his 22nd shutout of his career, Andrew Copp scored a goal and an assist, and the Jets shut out the Montreal Canadiens with a 5-0 win Saturday night.

Paul Stastny started the scoring 10:13 of the second period, scoring his 12th goal of the season to make it 1-0 Jets. Nikolaj Ehlers and Derek Forbort also scored in the second to make it 3-0 Jets after two periods. In the 3rd, goals from Copp and Mathieu Perreault made it 5-0, which sealed the win.

Jets coach Paul Maurice said of the win that "I think the best part of the game was, for us, that we improved from our first game in here. We We had given up a fair amount off the rush. And we were much, much better at it. I also think we got stronger with it as the game went on. The areas that we thought we needed to improve from game one we did."

Hellebuyck's 22nd career shutout was his second of the season, stopping all 19 shots he faced during the game. Hellebuyck's record improved to 20-10-3 this season with the win, while the Jets sit in second in the North Division, with a 25-13-3 record.

Hellebuyck said of 22 career shutouts that "I think a shutout, no matter where it comes, is awesome, especially in this league. Most shutouts are a team shutout and tonight was no different. The guys are blocking shots and keeping them to the outside and letting me see the shots altogether and really applying the pressure in the O-zone. I thought we were a good team tonight."

Jake Allen got the loss in net for the Canadiens, saving 20 of 25 shots that came his way. Allen's record dropped to 5-6-4 with the defeat, while Montreal is holding on to 4th place in the North, with a 17-12-9 record.

Canadiens coach Dominique Ducharme said of the loss that ""I feel that tonight we came out a little bit on our heels, being scared of making those mistakes. But being smart doesn't mean that you have to be passive. I thought we were a little passive. Yes, we were not giving much, but a little passive. Scoring a first goal in that kind of game probably would give energy to our guys, and getting scored on did the opposite, so I didn't like that reaction."

The Jets face the Ottawa Senators on Monday night, with Hellebuyck getting the start in net. Montreal hosts the Maple Leafs Monday, with Allen expected to start.
