The Ottawa Senators got themselves quite a win on Saturday. Marcus Hogberg stopped 30 shots, Brady Tkachuk scored with 8.2 seconds left in the game, and the Senators topped the Winnipeg Jets with a 2-1 win on Saturday, pushing Ottawa's record to 3-12-1, still last place in the NHL's North Division.

Mark Scheifele started the scoring for the Jets, snapping one past Hogberg at 5:43 of the first period. Just 1:46 later, Evgenii Dadonov tied things up for the Senators with his 4th goal of the season. It remained tied at one until 8.2 seconds left in the game, when Tkachuk sent one into the back of the net for a dramatic game winner.

Despite scoring the winning goal, Tkachuk deflected the praise to Hogberg, saying that "All of the credit goes to Hoggy here. He was unbelievable. We really needed this one. We played a full 60. They pushed hard but we stuck to our game plan. That's huge for us and a huge maturity moment for our group."

Hogberg stopped 30 shots in his first win of the season, although the Senators are still in last place in the north division. On the other side, Connor Hellebuyck stopped 27 of 29 shots for the Jets, as they fell to 8-5-1 on the season, 4th place in the North Division.

Hogberg talked about the feeling of getting his first win of the season, saying that "It feels really good for myself and the team too to get a win. It was a good game by us, a full 60 minutes. I'm really proud of how the guys played in front of me."

Jets coach Paul Maurice talked about the Jets performance in the 3rd period, saying that "It's a tight game. We had some offence die, I felt, during the game on some simple plays that we could have made to keep the momentum. We had some good O-zone shifts that died on the handling of puck at times."

Ottawa heads to Toronto on Monday to face the Maple Leafs, and Matt Murray is slated to be the starting goalie. The Jets travel to Edmonton, where Hellebuyck is expected to start again.
